The Structural Engineers Association of Illinois (SEAOI) was founded in 1965 to exchange information of interest to Structural Engineers practising in the state of Illinois. Today, headquartered in Chicago, the SEAOI provides a range of opportunities for practising engineers to improve professional skills whilst socializing with colleagues.

One such opportunity is the Trade Show where the engineering community can meet with colleagues and key suppliers over breakfast.

This year, the show fell on one of the coldest days on record with wind chill temperatures down to -ve30 Deg Fahrenheit. Even so, more than 200

engineers braved the Chicago weather arriving promptly for the 7 am start!

This is the second year running that CSC Inc has supported the show since opening the Chicago office. Matthew Newton and Jason Ericksen attended to the busy booth and it was great to catch-up with existing customers and handle lots of new enquiries.

Matthew made a presentation over breakfast to highlight how engineering calculations can be automated in Microsoft Word using TEDDS and how buildings with complex geometry can be designed quickly and confidently in FASTRAK.

Right now, many organizations in the USA are re-assessing their processes, and paying particular attention to technology.
